Marcus Mariota has become the top candidate to win the Heisman Trophy

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was the overwhelming favorite to win the Heisman Trophy for the second straight season but even though he has played well, his team has already lost two games and they practically have no chance of competing for a National Title.

Pay per head services assume believe that right now Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston are the two favorites to win the Heisman. Going into last Saturday’s game against Washington State, Mariota had thrown 17 touchdowns and had zero interceptions. He also had run the ball for eight touchdowns, with at least one rushing touchdown in each game.

Last Saturday Mariota led Oregon to a 62-38 victory against Washington State. It was one of the most balanced offensive performances of the season, with the Ducks rushing for 383 yards and passing for 336. Mariota led the way by completing 23 of 32 passes for 327 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also had eight carries for 67 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

If Marcus Mariota doesn’t slow down, he will be in New York City collecting the Heisman Trophy, as well as in Pasadena playing for the BCS Championship.

Let’s take a look at more numbers:

Stats this season: 293.0 passing yards per game, 19 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 62.4 completion percentage, 70.4 rushing yards per game, 9 touchdowns

Last week: Completed 23 of 32 passes for 327 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown in a 62-38 victory against Washington State.
